Nigeria beat Congo, Falcons crash

The Nigeria U-23 team have qualified for the CAF African Championship on a 2-1 aggregate scoreline after forcing their Congolese counterparts to a goalless draw at the Stade Municipal du Pointe Noire on Sunday.
It was, however, a tale of lamentations for the Super Falcons who lost 2-1 to hosts Equatorial Guinea in Bata also on Sunday. The Falcons have thus crashed out in their race to be at the Olympics as Equatorial Guinea qualified on a 3-2 aggregate, courtesy of their 1-1 draw in the first leg fixture in Abuja two weeks ago.
The U-23 men, coached by Samson Siasia, have thus joined Senegal, Algeria, Egypt, Zambia, Tunisia and South Africa, with either Mali or Gabon, in the CAF tournament to be held in Dakar from November 28 to December 11. The top three teams at the tournament will represent Africa at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil.

Lol. US vows to pressurize Nigeria to legalize gay marriage.. how?

People that are not serious. The US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield (pictured above) has stated that they would continue to pressurize Nigeria until it legalizes same sex marriage. She made this known on Monday July 13 during a live-web chat with journalists in Washington.

"As a government, it is one of the highest priorities and strongest values that discrimination against anyone based on their sexual orientation and gender identity is wrong. We believe human rights should be available to everybody. As a policy, we will continue to press the government of Nigeria, as well as other governments which have provided legislation that discriminate against the LGBT community. This is very much a work in progress, but I think you will agree with me that the law in Nigeria really went far in discriminating against this community but also people who associate with them. So, we will continue to press the government, to press the legislature to change these laws and provide human rights for all Nigerian people regardless of their sexual orientation. With what is happening in the US, you can determine how far we are willing to go. We strongly believe human rights for all people and we are particularly opposed to legislation that actually targets the gay community for discrimination. So we are prepared to push this as a policy, not just in Africa but across the
 world.”

Female designers rising in the Turkish fashion industry

With the debut of Istanbul Fashion Week (IFW), also known as "Mercedes Benz Fashion Week," the city's fashion scene clearly changed: The fashion industry in Istanbul is increasingly turning into a world managed by female designers. Each season, the majority of individual designers attending the IFW are female. These trend-setting women enthusiastically introduce new concepts and collections to fashion lovers. There are many boutiques selling top-line clothes and jewelry in the Galata, Nişantaşı, Cihangir, Tophane, and Bebek neighborhoods.
When Istanbul started to prove itself as a global fashion capital at the beginning of the 2000s, some female designers such as Arzu Kaprol, Zeynep Tosun, Dilek Hanif and Gamze Saraçoğlu stood out among the others with their stunning creations. These female designers are now considered as some of the most influential women in Istanbul's fashion scene.
Studying at Mimar Sinan University and the Paris American Academy, Arzu Kaprol has become a brand name reflecting the mystery of Istanbul and Ottoman culture. At first sight, her dresses feature a simple cut design, but in detail, they have a sublime female touch. She also creates sculptural texture designs with the use of lush fabrics. Kaprol has participated in many fashion weeks in Istanbul, Milan, Paris and Dusseldorf and designed dresses for celebrities like Meg Ryan, Gisele Bündchen and Sienna Miller. Currently, she continues to design attire in Istanbul. She has branches in Nişantaşı, Galata and Bağdat Avenue.

Germany too strong for Sweden

Germany continued their march towards a third FIFA Women’s World Cup™ title after convincingly beating Sweden 4-1 in the Round of 16 at Ottawa's Lansdowne Stadium.
Despite missing an early slew of chances with woeful accuracy, Germany’s Anja Mittag was the first to find the scoresheet. After intercepting a poor pass out of the back by Sweden, the No11 linked up well with Celia Sasic for a quick give-and-go, enabling Mittag to fire past Hedvig Lindahl, hitting the far post on the way into the side netting.
Ten minutes before the break Sasic scored from the penalty spot after Mittag was dragged down in the box to double the Germans’ advantage. Sofia Jakobsson nearly pulled one back for the Swedes seconds before half-time but she could not manage to keep her header down.
