We didn’t approve Davido’s video –Censors board

Following the decision of the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency to investigate if the controversial video of Davido’s recent duet with American rapper, Meek Mill, titledFans mi, was censored, the Acting Head, Corporate Affairs of the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board, Mike Ekunno, has said that it did not approve the video before it was released.
Ekunno noted this during a short telephone interview with our correspondent on Tuesday.

But the spokesman declined comment when asked if it was the responsibility of the NFVCB to approve music videos shot by Nigerian artistes. Instead, he suggested that the question should be directed to the Board’s Director-General.
In a report recently published in Sunday PUNCH, the Director of Public Affairs of the NDLEA, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, was quoted as saying that the agency had set up a panel to investigate the making of the video, which he alleged had clearly promoted drug trafficking.

Naira to rise further as banks reject dollars

The United States dollar will further tumble against the naira at the parallel market this week as Deposit Money Banks continue to reject cash deposit of foreign currencies into customers’ domiciliary accounts.
The naira had appreciated against the dollar from 245 to 220 at the parallel market last week after banks started denying their customers opportunity to make cash deposits of dollar, pound and euro into their domiciliary accounts.
Foreign exchange dealers told our correspondent on Sunday that the naira would likely appreciate further against the dollar at the black market this week.

Buhari confirms plans to reduce ministries

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday confirmed, for the first time, the plan by his administration to reduce the number of ministries in the country.
There have been media reports that the President’s Transition committee, led by Ahmed Joda, had recommended a drastic reduction in the number of ministries.
The plan is said to be one of the reasons behind the delay in the formation of cabinet.
Buhari confirmed the plan at a meeting he had with members of the Nigerian community in Benin Republic on Saturday evening.
He was responding to a request for the creation of two more Nigerian consulates in Benin Republic.
He said despite the planned reduction however, he would direct the Nigerian ambassador to make the request through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Nigeria beat Congo, Falcons crash

The Nigeria U-23 team have qualified for the CAF African Championship on a 2-1 aggregate scoreline after forcing their Congolese counterparts to a goalless draw at the Stade Municipal du Pointe Noire on Sunday.
It was, however, a tale of lamentations for the Super Falcons who lost 2-1 to hosts Equatorial Guinea in Bata also on Sunday. The Falcons have thus crashed out in their race to be at the Olympics as Equatorial Guinea qualified on a 3-2 aggregate, courtesy of their 1-1 draw in the first leg fixture in Abuja two weeks ago.
The U-23 men, coached by Samson Siasia, have thus joined Senegal, Algeria, Egypt, Zambia, Tunisia and South Africa, with either Mali or Gabon, in the CAF tournament to be held in Dakar from November 28 to December 11. The top three teams at the tournament will represent Africa at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil.
